This 30 September, the Marine Stewardship CouncilĀ aims to promote sustainable seafood through the Sustainable Seafood Lunch.
According to WWF, only 0.6% of the world’s oceans are protected areas. 52% of fish stocks are fully exploited, and some economists and ecologists predict that (at the current rate of overfishing) the world will run out of seafood by 2048.
The MSC provide a certification program for seafood from sustainable sources, working with fisheries, food producers, scientists and retailers.
